5-day workshop: “English Medium Instruction”
19th September – 23rd September
Hosted by: Padova University Language Centre.
Designed specifically for university lecturers who teach or will soon teach their subject through the medium of English, we aim to provide you with the tools you need to deliver effective EMI lectures and classes in an increasingly international Higher Education context.
Recommended level of English: B2
Objectives
Based on extensive research, the workshop has a highly practical approach and focuses on:
- the relationship between language and content
- overcoming students’ language barriers
- modified methodologies to suit EMI
- communication and presentation skills
- cultural issues when working with international students
- technology and assessment
The 5-day workshop will include:
- Videos on EMI practice from leading Oxford academics
- Preparation for practice in your subject with your own materials
- Comprehensive tutor feedback
- A focus on EMI in your country and your discipline

Course timetable
Lessons will run from Monday to Friday, starting at 9.30 until 12.30, then 14.00 until 16.30. On Monday lessons will start at 10.00.
Certification
Participants will be provided with a Certificate of Completion
Fees and Application
The fee for the 5-day workshop is €800 per participant.
Applicants are requested to fill in the following application form and send a CV.
Deadline for applications: 30 June 2016
Notification of acceptance: 5 July 2016
The total fee is due by 15th July 2016
Along with notification you will receive instructions for payment.
