GERMAN LECTOR
THE SCHOOL OF LANGUAGES, LINGUISTICS AND CULTURES UNIVERSITY OF HULL
The German section of the School of Languages, Linguistics and Cultures at the University of Hull is looking to appoint a lector for the academic year 2014-2015.
The ideal candidate will be a graduate who is an entirely fluent and highly proficient speaker of German with recent experience of living in and conversing in the German-speaking world. A qualification and/or experience in teaching German as a foreign language, including beginner level, will be required.
The duties involve teaching the German language to, in the first instance, first-year students on our degree courses in German (both ab-initio and A-level entry) and to other students enrolled on “passport courses” as part of the University’s “Languages for All” provision. This entails in all a total contact time of fourteen hours per week, although a willingness to take on one or two extra courses (separately remunerated) will be an advantage. In addition the lector will be responsible for the planning and regular marking of work and the setting and marking of the examinations relating to the courses he or she teaches. The lector will not be expected to take on administrative tasks not directly related to his or her teaching.
The successful candidate will receive a contract for one year in the first instance, with a view to a renewal of up to a further two years, and a salary of £19,128.
Start date: 1 September 2014.
Please send applications (curriculum vitae, letter of application and two references), either electronic or on paper, to arrive not later than Friday 9 May 2014 to me at:
