The University of Padua has become an ALTE Associate Member
Founded in 1989 by the University of Cambridge and the University of Salamanca, ALTE – Association of Language Testers in Europe is an association of language test providers who work together to promote the fair and accurate assessment of linguistic ability across Europe and beyond.
Thanks to the work of our Language Centre, the University of Padua has also become an ALTE Associate Member.
Our CLA designs, develops, and administers language tests in Italian as a second language, as well as in English, French, Spanish, and German, supporting degree requirements across all Schools of the University. Over 13,000 students are tested annually, with exams covering CEFR levels A1 to C1 and delivered in computer-based format. The Centre is committed to high standards of assessment quality, with a focus on validity, reliability, fairness, and accessibility. Current areas of development include test validation, Computer-Assisted Speaking Tests, inclusive design, and subject-specific tasks. Through collaboration and continuous improvement, the Language Centre seeks to provide transparent, academically relevant assessments that support learners’ success.
We are proud that the value of our work has also been recognised by a prestigious association such as ALTE.
