A linguistic-cultural bridge for students on the move
Online Tandem is a project designed for incoming and outgoing exchange students of the University of Padua. The aim of the project is to enable students to connect with students from their host university prior to their arrival.
Objectives
The Online Tandem puts students from different universities in contact with one another before leaving for their mobility period so that they can help each other by practicing their respective languages.
Tandem learning is aimed at:
- improving language skills in the language spoken in the target Country
- encouraging participants to get to know the culture of their host country and the academic context in which they will live for a few months
Who can participate?
- Students of the University of Padova awarded Erasmus grants (outgoing mobility)
- Students in incoming mobility at the University of Padova
- The entire Unipd community
Duration and modalities of the meetings
The project has an approximate duration of 8 weeks and the meetings are organized independently and managed by each pair of students.
The CLA supports students in choosing possible topics to cover during the meetings by providing suggestions through the platform that will be used to register for the project (Matorix).
Registration
To sign up you need to register on the dedicated platform. Upon registering, users will receive an automatic email with instructions for completing registration and will have to fill in all the data necessary to be paired with a Tandem partner.
Once paired by the system, users will receive a notification via email that the pairing has taken place. They will then be able to contact one another and then plan meetings. It may take a few weeks for the pairing to take place.
It is not always possible to guarantee a Tandem partner to all those who have requested it as it depends on the number of students who join the initiative. Those who are not matched will still be able to register again the following semester.
Registration open on 1st December 2024.
