New courses starting in November 2018
The Language Centre provides IELTS preparation courses. Each course lasts 30 hours and i
s intended for those who aim to reach a score of at least 6.5. Therefore, in order to attend this course you must have already reached at least a B1 level (in accordance with CEFR). The applicants’ level will be assessed through a compulsory entry test.
Who can enroll?
The course is intended for University of Padova students, faculty members and staff or those who have a formalised relationship with the University of Padova.
Prerequisites and entry test
Participants must have reached at least a B1 level of the CEFR. Participants will be selected via an obligatory entry test. This test can be taken online from any computer with audio and headphone capabilities. The entry test is obligatory for everyone, including those who may already hold a language certification.
The entry test lasts around one and half hours at the most, and tests reading, listening, grammar and writing skills.
After having signed up for the course, participants will be sent instructions via email on how to access the entry test.
Based on the test results, the list of those admitted to the course will be published on this web page according to the deadlines stated in the table below. In the case of more than 20 people holding the necessary requirements, a waiting list will be created based on chronological order of signing up.
Content and Structure of the course
The course, consisting in 30 hours in the classroom with a highly qualified teacher, aims to help participants to develop the necessary language skills (particularly written and oral production) in order to reach a 6.5 score on the IELTS test. During the course, participants will have the opportunity to try out different various learning strategies and will be encouraged to reflect on their own abilities and needs in order to become more efficient and autonomous language learners.
The maximum number of participants is 20. The course will only take place if a minimum of 15 participants is reached.
Fee
The enrolment fee is 252 Euro.
For university students the course costs 202 Euro.
The fee does not include the course textbook.

After the registration deadline, if the minimum number of participants is reached (15), an email will be sent with instructions on how to access the online admission test.
The first 20 eligible applicants only will be selected for the course. If there are more than 20 eligible candidates, a waiting list will be created based on chronological order of enrollment. In the case of cancellations, the place on the course will be offered to the next eligible candidate on the list.
After the publication of the list, the students admitted will receive an email detailing instructions for payment via bank transfer, within the deadline stated in the email.
