The biannual Italian courses develop all linguistic skills.
Every semester the Linguistic Centre provides courses for the different levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

IMPORTANT:
Attendance is free of charge.
Since places are limited, students who have never attended an Italian language course at the Language Center always receive priority.
If you have already attended a course, even partially (more than 10 hours) and regardless of the course type and duration, you will be able to enroll in a further course, but if places run out you will be placed on a waiting list, which will be scrolled in the event of withdrawals/no shows.
You can take up to three free courses only if you are:
– a student that have to pass Italian A2 TAL within the study plan;
– a political refugee;
– a student of Medicine and Surgery;
– a student of Scuola Galileiana;
– a student of Languages, Literature and Cultural Mediation.
Course information - verify courses details and duration
Courses are structured as follows: 4 hours of lessons per week (2 meetings of 2 hours each per week), for a total of 40 hours in class, plus 10 hours of obligatory autonomous learning.
You should provide your own copy of the textbook by yourself.
Second semester courses start in March and are held from Monday to Thursday.
For most classes the lessons are held in-person in the classroom, but there are a few classes entirely held online.
Course registration
3rd STEP: COURSE SCHEDULE CHOICE – FROM 5/3/2025 TO 7/3/2025
- You must choose a timetable: if you don’t choose your class you won’t be able to attend any lessons!
- For each level there’s usually more than one class: you can chose from different options of schedules and delivery methods (online/in person).
- Those on the waiting list will be contacted by e-mail for class assignment and course schedule.
BEGINNING OF THE COURSES – 12-13 MARCH 2025
- The in-person courses will be held at the Language Centre in Via Venezia 16 (building no. 4 of the Citadel of Psychology).
- Students enrolled in online classes will receive the course link by e-mail from the teacher before the first lesson.
- If after your first lesson you feel that the level of your class is too high or too low for you, talk to your teacher as soon as possible to see if you can change classes.
IMPORTANT: If you do not show up for the course without informing us for TWO consecutive lessons, you will be unenrolled from the course.
Your place will be given to the next person on the waiting list.
If you decide not to continue the course you are attending, please write an e-mail to the Students’ Office and inform the course teacher within the first two weeks of the course.

Final tests, credits and certificates
At the end of the course, you will take a proficiency test (pass mark 60/100).
You have to attend a minimum of 70% of the 40 hours with the teacher (28 hours) and all the 10 hours of mandatory autonomous learning or activities assigned by the teacher in order to be entitled to do the final test.
Only Erasmus Plus and Bilateral Agreement students who pass the final test can obtain 3 ECTS credits recognised by the University of Padova only at the end of the first course.
If you attend a second course you will not receive any additional credits.
If you attend at least 70% of the course, you will receive a certificate of participation in the course.
Self study
Students enrolled at the University of Padova can use the self-learning multimedia materials freely available on the CLA Moodle platform.
